My husband watches television commercials. I don't mean he fails to mute them. I mean he actively engages and watches them. He gets irritated if I talk during a commercial, and he can't understand when I don't see or hear the commercials that play during our TV shows.
Me? I don't watch commercials. At all. I look at the TV while they're playing, but my mental off-switch has already been thrown.
But tonight I saw a commercial. I don't know what it was for, and I only heard one phrase of it, but what an impact it made on me!
"What is the best version of yourself?"
Wow. After much contemplation, here's what I decided:
The best version of me is the one that serves and loves God, and is molded and formed by His hand; the version of me that is constantly evolving into what He planned for me.
The best version of me is that one that serves and loves others. I love to take food to families in need, and teach children in Sunday School. I love to cook fancy meals and serve them on china and crystal to my loved ones. I love to come alongside younger women in need, to pray for them and love them through their hardship.
The best version of me is the one that serves and loves my husband; the one that appreciates how much he cherishes and takes care of me. The part of me that wants to follow his leadership and respect him, and cheer him on to all the good thing he is capable of achieving.
The best version of me is the one that serves and loves other by creating and writing, sharing and educating. The one that takes the time to blog and to write, or create and lead a Christmas program.
Did you notice a pattern? The best version of me is not the one that excels at sports, or the one that has the most self-discipline, or the one that makes the most money, or the one that is the most successful, or the one that gets promoted at work.
No, the best version of me is the one that "serves and loves." In every single area, the highest and greatest version of me serves and loves.
So, I challenge you to think about the commercial...what is the best version of yourself? I wonder if it will be the one that serves and loves...
